Female entrepreneurs 'more ambitious' than men

Female-led businesses are predicting a £12 billion increase in turnover within the next five years, an investigation has discovered.

Research by the business advice chamber Everywoman revealed that 88% of businesses run by women are forecasting future growth, in contrast to less than three quarter of male-managed firms.

Director of Everywoman, Karen Gill, commented: "The fact that female-owned businesses are reporting a greater desire for growth is testament to the progress we have made as a sector in such a short space of time."

Despite the good news, the study also found that women have more difficulty than men in implicating financial support services, such as advisors and accountants.

Ms Gill added that it was vital that female company owners have good access to the advice and information required to maximise their skills and business growth, especially considering the fiscal climate.

It was revealed earlier in the week that the British Retail Consortium was pressurising the government to make tax cuts in the Pre-Budget statement next week.
